Choose to trust God in the middle of what you don’t understand

Choose to trust God in the middle of what you don’t understand

Slide 1: Pride will cost you more than you think.
Slide 2: Pride looks like:
“I don’t need God for this.”
“I already know.”
“I can handle it on my own.”
Slide 3: Pride slowly hardens the heart, resists correction, and pushes God’s wisdom aside.
Slide 4: But choosing humility will help you listen, grow, and depend on God.
Slide 5: Before pride leads to a fall, choose humility. God can do more with a surrendered heart.

Slide 1: Here’s some super simple advice from the Bible today.
Slide 2: Watch your words. Proverbs 21:23. God gave a whole book of wisdom about the damage your mouth can do.
Slide 3: Get enough rest. Psalm 127:2. God literally built rest into creation. Then had to remind us to actually do it.
Slide 4: Don't overthink it. Proverbs 3:5-6. Trust God instead of leaning on your own understanding. We needed that in writing.
Slide 5: Be a good neighbor. Matthew 22:39. Love your neighbor as yourself. Still the hardest thing on this list.
Slide 6: Mind your own business. 1 Thessalonians 4:11. Yes. That is actually in the Bible. Word for word.
Slide 7: Be grateful. 1 Thessalonians 5:18. In everything give thanks. Not for everything. In everything. There's a difference.
Slide 8: God cares about your whole life. Not just the Sunday parts.

Slide 1: God doesn’t backtrack.
Slide 2: He doesn’t contradict Himself.
Slide 3: What He said, He meant.
Slide 4: What He promised, He will do.
Slide 5: You can build your life on that kind of truth.

Slide 1: 3 things to know about wisdom
Slide 2: Wisdom begins with fearing the Lord.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight." - Proverbs 9:10
Slide 3: Wisdom is to be actively sought out.
"If you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God." - Proverbs 2:4-5
Slide 4: God gives wisdom generously.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." - James 1:5

Slide 1: Before Labor Day existed, God talked about work.
Slide 2: Work was God's idea before the fall. It was never the punishment. (Genesis 2:15)
Slide 3: Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord. (Colossians 3:23)
Slide 4: God Himself worked six days and rested on the seventh. The rhythm was built in on purpose.
Slide 5: Your work is not separate from your faith. It is an expression of it.
Slide 6: The goal was never to work less. It was to work with meaning.
Slide 7: Happy Labor Day. Go rest. You've earned it. God modeled that too.

Slide 1: Fear is not from God.
Slide 2: Scripture tells us: For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. - 2 Timothy 1:7
Slide 3: So when fear tries to take over, remember what God has placed inside of you.

1. Signs you might be in a wilderness season…
2. You're doing everything right and nothing is moving. Praying. Reading. Showing up. And it feels like your prayers are hitting the ceiling and sliding down the wall.
3. You're not angry at God exactly. Just... confused. The silence isn't hostile. It's just very, very quiet.
4. The things that used to fill you up aren't filling you up the same way right now. Worship feels flat. Scripture feels familiar but distant. You're going through the motions and you know it.
5. You keep waiting for the thing that's supposed to happen next. And it keeps not happening. And you're running out of ways to be okay with that.
6. You're tired in a way that sleep doesn't fix. Not physically exhausted. Soul tired.
7. Here’s the thing: The wilderness is where God does some of his most important work. Israel. Moses. David. Jesus. All of them spent time there. None of them stayed forever.
8. The wilderness has an exit. You are not lost. You are in process. And the God who led you in is the same God who leads you out.
