Heavenly Father,
On this Ash Wednesday, I come before You in humility, recognizing my need for Your grace and mercy. As the ashes are placed upon my head, I am reminded that I am but dust, and to dust I shall return. Yet, in Your great love, You have given me eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Lord, search my heart and reveal anything that separates me from You. I confess my sins and lay them at the foot of the cross. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Help me to walk in repentance, not just today, but throughout this Lenten season.
Teach me to fast not only from food but from pride, selfishness, and anything that pulls me away from You. Fill me with a hunger for Your Word, a thirst for righteousness, and a deep longing to know You more. As I journey through this season of reflection, help me to fix my eyes on Jesus, who bore my sins and conquered the grave.
May this time of Lent draw me closer to You. Let it be a season of renewal, of turning away from sin and turning fully toward Your love and grace. Strengthen me to love others as You have loved me and to live each day for Your glory.
I surrender myself to You, Lord. Let Your will be done in my life. Amen.
Lent (starting tomorrow) is a time for discipline, for confession, for honesty. Not because God is mean or fault-finding, but because He wants us to know the joy of being cleaned out, ready for all the good things He has in store. – N.T. Wright
